This is a small instruction on how to install custom texture packs in Terraria.

First you need to go to the directory Documents \ My Games \ Terraria and find the file there config.json... Next, you need to open it in any text editor, find the line "UseExperimentalFeatures"And put opposite it"true". That is, you should get something like this:

After you save the changes to the file config.json you will turn on in Terraria experimental features... And this is exactly what you need to use custom texture packs.

Transferring texture packs to the game

Now you just need to transfer the archive with textures to one of the directories below. Please note that the archive must be called Texture Pack.zip.

Additional Information

1. The files of the texture pack are saved as a ZIP archive (no password).
2. Files of texture packs should be placed in the following directory:
On Windows Documents \ My Games \ Terraria
On Mac, Library / Application Support / Terraria
On Linux, $ XDG_DATA_HOME / Terraria

For a texture pack to be detected and loaded, it must be named "Texture Pack.zip" and located in the above directory. 

On Windows, the correct name and folder will look something like this:

4. The archive Texture Pack.zip should contain the folder “Pictures". And already in the "Images" folder there should be custom textures. Textures will only be replaced in Terraria if they have the same path and name.
5. Replacement textures must be saved in png, gif or jpg format.

How to set custom textures if you are using tModLoader?

You need to edit the file in the same way config.json (adding true to it), but the archive with textures must be transferred to the folder:
